Normalcy and Functionality

What is normal? Normalcy is usually defined by societal expectations. In other words you have to fit in with what's going on around you. This leads to another word...functionality. What is functionality?  Functionality is the ability to operate or perform in a group with a  set of rules defined by the group. In other words...fit in. After having a conversation with Elondious the thought of functionality stayed present on my mind. I thought of terms like functional alcoholic...functional addict etc. These terms depict a person that has a disability yet they're able to function with normalcy within a group or social construct.

Now here's the reason for this blog; a lot of us are actors. We've learned to function minus individuality...we do what the group does. Secondly, posers or pretenders are able to infiltrate a group or construct by displaying a facade of normalcy through  crafted functionality. It leads you to ask the question/questions...does this person really understand and believe in the rules and actions of the group or are they just copying what everyone else is doing to fit in?

It's a lot to think about. And that's what Elondious and I are asking you to do...think about it. We would like for you to share your thoughts with us and hopefully through the collective sharing of thoughts, it will give more insight on different perspectives that can help us all navigate this thing called life just a little bit better.
